Student Transfers
Inter-District Transfers into SUSD
An inter-district transfer is required for students who live outside of the Saugus Union School District boundaries. Before the Saugus Union School District can consider your child’s transfer request, you must obtain a release from your district of residence.
If you currently reside outside of SUSD boundaries and wish to enroll your child into one of our schools, please contact your local school district for more information on this process.
A release from your district of residence does not guarantee approval for enrollment within the Saugus Union School District. All inter-district transfer permits are issued on a provisional basis. If a student’s attendance, grades, or behavior are determined to be unsatisfactory at any time, the inter-district transfer permit may be revoked and the student may be returned to their district of residence. In all cases where an inter-district transfer permit is granted, student transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian and student.
Inter-District Transfer Out of SUSD
An inter-district transfer is required for all students who reside in Saugus Union School District boundaries and wish to attend a school in another school district.
Inter-district transfer requests must be completed with SUSD before applying/enrolling your child at the proposed district of attendance. To request a transfer out of SUSD, complete the inter-district transfer form below and submit with supporting documentation to Elizabeth Krueger by email.
Intra-District Transfers within SUSD
An intra-district transfer is when parents/guardians wish to enroll their child at a school other than the designated home school in their attendance boundaries. To request an intra-district transfer within the Saugus Union School District, contact the office manager at your child’s school of residence.
Open Enrollment
The open enrollment window typically begins in late January, and a list of “open” schools will be updated on the Saugus Union School District website. Approval is subject to space and availability within the school, grade level, or program requested. An approved transfer into the district may not result in attendance at the site requested.
Impacted schools (defined by schools that have higher enrollment than projected enrollment, thus considered at full capacity) will not be available for transfers.
SUSD does not require annual renewal of intra-district transfer permits.
For more information on enrollment and/or transfers, please contact Student Support Services at 661-294-5300, ext. 5158.
