Saugus USD Seeks Input on Superintendent Search
Saugus USD is beginning the search for our next superintendent—and we want to hear from you!
As Dr. Colleen Hawkins prepares to retire as Superintendent, the Governing Board invites all parents, students, staff, and community members to share the qualities that matter most in our next leader.
Please share your thoughts. We offer two ways to participate:
1. Online: Take the survey. It takes about five minutes to complete.
The survey will be open from February 9 through March 6, 2026. A summary of the information collected in the survey will be provided to the Governing Board.
All responses are anonymous. District staff will not have access to the identities of participants.
2. Meetings: Join us at one of these events (both are open to the public and translation will be available):
- In-person on Thursday, February 19 at Bridgeport Elementary at 6:00 p.m.

February 9 through March 6: Job posting open
February 9 through March 6: Stakeholder survey available online
February 18 through February 23: Stakeholder outreach feedback sessions (district staff, parent/community groups)

March 3: Leadership profile presented (regular Board meeting in open session)
Week of March 9: Candidate applications provided for Board to review
Week of March 16: Selection of candidates to interview (special meeting in closed session)
March 26: Round one interviews (special meeting in closed session)
March 28: Round two interviews (special meeting in closed session)
March 30 through April 10: Contract negotiations with selected candidate
April 21 or May 6: Approval appointment of new superintendent (regular Board meeting); announcement and press release to follow Board action
July 1: Target start date for new superintendent
