In Honor of President Abraham Lincoln's Birthday, February 12, 1809

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. He became the 16th president of the United States in 1861. On January 1, 1862, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. He won reelection in 1864 as the Civil War was coming to an end and was hopeful that we could attain peace with magnanimity. “With malice towards non; with charity for all; with firmness in the rights, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds.”

In honor of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, all district schools and offices will be closed on Friday, February 13, 2026. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
