On Tuesday, April 21 the governing board of the Saugus Union School District recognized one student from each of the 14 elementary school sites with the Courage Award. This award is one of several that highlights the character traits that correspond with our social emotional curriculum. Courage is choosing to do what is helpful, right, and kind even when it is scary or hard. As Nelson Mandela said, “Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” Although our schools have many courageous individuals, these recipients have caught the attention of their peers, teachers, and staff. Congratulations to them and to their families for teaching their kids to exemplify such a great trait!
