Happy Lunar New Year – Year of the Wood Snake

Happy Lunar New Year 2025 - Year of the wood snake

The Saugus Union School District wishes everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year good health and fortune in the coming months.
Lunar New Year is a special time to bring friends and family together for feasting and festivities in Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Mongolia, China and other countries all over the world. It begins with the rise of the second new moon, after the winter solstice. The dates of the celebration follow the phases of the moon.
This year is the year of the Wood Snake. In Eastern cultures, the snake has both positive and negative connotations. Snakes are intuitive because they quickly sense risk. They are very mysterious but also very smart. They also represent cunning and danger. This year is expected to be one for positive transformation; it is about shedding toxicity in personality and character traits, and letting go of the past, ego, lost love, and anger. The snake is most commonly associated with intelligence, resilience, and love.
