Lin-Manuel Miranda is an award-winning songwriter, actor, director, and producer. He is the creator and original star of Broadway’s Tony-winning musicals Hamilton and In the Heights. Hamilton has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in drama; earned a record-breaking 16 Tony nominations and winning 11 Tony awards including two personally for Mr. Miranda for Book and Score of a Musical; and the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. He has provided music and songs for several Disney films including Encanto, Moana, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the live action version of The Little Mermaid.

He was born on January 16, 1980, in New York City and is predominantly of Puerto Rican descent. Together with his family, Lin-Manuel Miranda is an active supporter of initiatives that increase representation of people of color throughout the arts and government, ensure access to women’s reproductive health, and promote resilience in Puerto Rico.
