Results of January 26, 2010 Board Meeting

Last evening, the Board of Trustees took the following major actions:

  • Indefinitely closed Bouquet Canyon school site effective June 2010
  • Temporarily closed Emblem school site effective June 2010
  • Opened West Creek school site effective August 2010
  • Adjusted boundaries as follows:
    • Reassign Bouquet Canyon neighborhood students to Rosedell
    • Reassign Bouquet Canyon-Haskell Canyon area students to Foster
    • Reassign Emblem-Bridgeport students to Bridgeport
    • Reassign Emblem neighborhood students (includes River Village) to Highlands
    • Reassign Emblem-Estrella Vista and Canyon Ridge students to Foster
    • Reassign Emblem SDCclass to Highlands
    • Reassign Legends and Sage developments to Mountainview from Santa Clarita
    • Reassign SDC classes from Cedarcreek to Skyblue Mesa
    • Reassign Tesoro-West Creek students to West Creek
    • Close Bridgeport, Rosedell, Plum and Mountainview to transfers, all other sites are open to transfers. West Creek and Highlands would have somerestrictions
    • All current Bouquet Canyon and Emblem students can choose to transfer to any openenrollment site
    • Bouquet Canyon students assigned to Foster would be permitted to transfer to Rosedell and remain through sixth grade
    • Students from Emblem assigned to Foster would be permitted to remain with Emblem through sixth grade
  • Further, Cory Pak, current Rosedell Principal, was selected as Principal for West Creek for the 2010/2011 school year.
  • Jeff Pettipas, current Bouquet Canyon Principal, was selected as the Principal of Rosedell for the 2010/2011 school year.
  • A general overview of the West Creek program will be presented at the February 2nd Board meeting held at the District Office.
